How OOTDBUY search works
The box at the top of the official site takes a product name or a listing link. Both end on the same result page, and the route it uses is plain enough to read: a search for a word lands on ootdbuy.com/search with the word carried in the address. We know because we drove the box and watched where it went, rather than guessing at the format.
What comes back is not a catalogue OOTDBUY owns. It is a live look into three Chinese marketplaces, wrapped in a translation layer. Almost everything that surprises a first-time user comes from that one fact.
The main thing to understand
The three tabs are three different kinds of seller
1688 is a wholesale floor: factories and trading companies selling to shops. Titles there are written to catch every possible buyer search, so they read as a pile of keywords, and the photographs are catalogue samples. Taobao is the general retail marketplace, enormous and the loosest match of the three. Weidian is where the small independent shops sit, the ones that name the brand outright and photograph the item themselves.
We ran the word hoodie through all three on 4 August 2026 and read twenty prices off the first screen of each tab. The spread between the tabs was larger than the spread inside any one of them. That is the shape of the thing: your tab choice moves the answer further than your filter choice.
What a search result is telling you
Read the badge before the title. It says which of the three sources the result came from, which tells you what kind of seller you are about to open, which frames everything else on the card.
The title is a machine translation of a Chinese title. Chinese sellers write titles as keyword lists, not as descriptions, so an English rendering of one reads strangely by design. Brand names inside them are frequently altered on purpose. A result that says Insbape or Supree is not a typing error, it is a seller avoiding a filter.
The price is the goods alone. Domestic freight is added when you order and the international leg is quoted later, so read the number as a position on the shelf rather than as what the parcel will cost you.
What the result page actually looks like
One search, one screen. The three source tabs sit across the top with the wholesale one selected by default, the price controls sit under them, and then the results begin. Read the badge on each card before the title.
Look at the titles in this screen and you can see the pattern described above: keyword lists rather than descriptions, with brand names bent out of shape on purpose.
The controls, and the one that actually helps
Above the results there is a price window, a sort, and a panel of further conditions. There is no size filter and no brand filter, which catches people out more than anything else on the page.
The price window is the useful one. Setting a floor clears the wholesale noise out of a category in a single move. Sorting by price with no floor does the opposite: it fills the screen with sample packs, single accessories and quantity listings that happen to share a word with what you wanted.
The camera button, and what we will not claim about it
There is a camera inside the search bar, so an image can be handed to the search instead of a word. We have seen the button and can tell you it is there.
We have not put a picture through it, so this guide says nothing about what it returns, how close the matches are, or whether it beats a good Chinese word. Describing a screen we have not opened is how guides end up inventing interfaces, and it is worth more to you that we say so.
The honest version
Why OOTDBUY rather than another agent, and when to use something else
Start with what is the same everywhere. Every serious buying agent does the same four things: buys on the Chinese marketplaces on your behalf, receives the goods at a warehouse, photographs them, and combines them into one parcel to your country. Warehouse photographs, a consolidation window and a choice of shipping lines are table stakes in 2026, not features. Anyone selling you those as a difference is selling you the floor of the market.
What is actually different here. Three things, all checkable. The search splits results across 1688, Taobao and Weidian as separate tabs rather than blending them, which makes it easy to stay on the kind of seller you want. There is no purchasing commission on the goods, so the fee structure is goods plus domestic freight now, international freight later, with a small customs handling charge. And the service is run by a named company, GLOBAL BUYPAL UK TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, with a published support address and hours, which is more than several competitors offer.
When you should use something else. If you already know exactly which seller you want and you order from them repeatedly, the agent you are used to is worth more than a marginally better search. If your parcel is mostly one bulky winter item, the deciding factor is the shipping line to your country, not the search box, and you should compare on freight instead. And if you want a service that will judge quality or authenticate anything, no agent does that, this one included: inspection here is quantity, colour and marked size, with colour and size deviation written out of scope.
What happens after you have found it
The search is over once you open a listing. From there the official flow takes you to the parcel, and the official pages describe it better than we can.
Open the listing
The seller page carries the colours, the sizes and the measurement table in centimetres. That table decides the fit, not the letter on the label.
Choose the variant
Colour, size and quantity are picked here. This is the single step nobody catches later, because a wrong variant still passes inspection.
Add a note to the buyer
The order form has free text. Anything you want the buyer to confirm with the seller belongs there, in plain language.
Pay for the goods
Goods plus the domestic leg now. The parcel to your country is a separate payment when it actually goes out.
